Just recently, in Paris, two people connected to crypto were nearly kidnapped. Three masked men tried to abduct the daughter and 2-year-old granddaughter of a crypto exchange CEO. They disguised themselves with a fake delivery van. The child's father fought back, he was injured. One of the attackers even dropped a gun as they fled. Luckily, bystanders stepped in at the last moment.
This wasn't some random incident. It was intentional, and sadly, it's not the first time.
In the past few years, we have seen this pattern over and over:
• The Ledger co-founder was kidnapped and tortured in his own home
• Another crypto founder's father was abducted and held for ransom
• Influencers, builders, and community figures constantly face doxxing, stalking, and harassment
This is the dark side of visibility in crypto, and not about clout or ego. It's about safety. Anonymity shouldn't be taken for granted, protect your privacy.
I'm saying this because too many people in this space still underestimate the risks. If you are in crypto, and people know your name, your face, your family, you need to rethink your OpSec.
Here's what I mean:
• Stop oversharing. Think twice before posting personal details
• Never tag your real-time location
• Invest in securing your home, cameras, alarms, etc
• Look into asset protection strategies. Multisig wallets are not just for nerds, they are for your safety
Crypto is freedom. That's why we are here. But freedom comes with responsibility. Be careful and stay safe!","images":[],"tags":[],"tradingPairs":[],"quotearticleid":0}
