After President Donald Trump said China breached its trade deal with the US, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) fell 1% and 2.5%, respectively, on Friday. This follows the announcement of US PCE statistics that met forecasts.

April US core PCE was 2.5% YoY, down from 2.7% the month before, meeting forecasts. Overall annual PCE declined 2.1%, missing predictions of 2.2%. Both core and total PCE climbed 0.1% monthly.
The Fed prefers the PCE to measure inflation. Since the PCE met expectations, market players anticipate the Fed may delay to lower rates.
amid the in-line PCE statistics, the crypto market kept firm but dropped fast amid signals of another weekend tariff uncertainty from Trump, a pattern that has been emerging since February's weekend tariff announcement on Canada and Mexico.
Trump's tweet alleging China breached the US-China trade deal fuelled the fall. Trump said on Truth Social that his 145% tariffs on China placed them in "grave economic danger." He claimed he made a "fast deal" to avert public upheaval in China, which stabilized its economy.
"China has completely violated its agreement with the US, which may not be shocking. "No more Mr. Nice Guy!" tweeted Trump.
Bloomberg reported that concerns that the US is considering further China tech penalties lowered risk sentiment after President Trump's remark.
