Chainlink's technical outlook is mixed as impetus fades and recovery slows.
Chainlink (LINK) pauses over $17 at press time on Friday following a 2% recovery on Thursday due to the repurchase of 63,481 tokens. Chainlink's technical position is precarious due to weak retail demand.
Chainlink Reserve buyback doesn't promote sales
Chainlink Reserve is supported by off-chain and on-chain services, reducing LINK supply and increasing demand. The Thursday repurchase of 63,481 LINK, the second-largest inflow since launch, stopped further declines. On Friday, the Chainlink Reserve had 586,641 LINK tokens worth $10.2 million.
Chainlink retail demand stalls at $654.04 million during the repurchase, according to CoinGlass' LINK futures Open Interest data. After the October 10 fall, LINK OI traded sideways, suggesting traders avoided greater leverage or new long bets.
Chainlink falls 0.50% at press time on Friday after recovering 2% the day before. Oracle token fights to break $17.72 central Pivot Point, threatening a freefall to $15.26 S1 Pivot Point.
As the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) approaches its signal line, signifying a bullish crossing, the daily momentum indicators provide conflicting indications. On the same chart, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 45 is sideways below the midway, indicating a negative trend.
Chainlink must break the short-term resistance trendline at $18.00 to reach the R1 Pivot Point at $19.76 to confirm an uptrend.
