In 2025, global central banks have already bought +830 tonnes of gold, with 23 countries increasing their reserves in just the first half of the year. This marks the 4th consecutive year they’re on track to buy twice the average annual gold purchases seen from 2011–2021.
To put it in perspective, central banks bought +1,080, +1,051, and +1,089 tonnes in 2022, 2023, and 2024, respectively. 2025 is shaping up to be their 16th straight year of net purchases — the longest streak ever.
Before 2010, central banks were net sellers of gold for 21 years. Today, the narrative has completely flipped. Central banks simply cannot stop buying gold.","images":["https://d35imkjvkj28kt.cloudfront.net/uploadfile/article/blog/2025102025/10/25/3b58b73acb7f33224836bd585ed96d5e.png"],"tags":[],"tradingPairs":[],"quotearticleid":0}
