Investors worry about Powell's comments.
At its October meeting, the Fed cut rates 25 bps to 3.75%-4%. Although the market expected the outcome, Fed Chair Jerome Powell surprised investors by hinting that the agency may take a wait-and-see strategy in its next meeting.
"A further reduction in the policy rate at the December meeting is not a foregone conclusion, far from it," Powell. Due to the US government shutdown, the agency may not have enough economic data to continue its present route. Powell also noted policymakers' diverse views on the next move.
"Today's cut is supportive, but the shutdown's data blackout makes Fed moves unpredictable, which markets hate most," RedStone co-founder Marcin Kazmierczak told FXStreet. "This uncertainty likely means Bitcoin and broader crypto volatility through year-end," he said.
At publishing, the crypto market is down 1% in 24 hours.
